Doha, March 16 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has raised QR 167 million ($45.8m) during its "Qatar Stands as One" charity campaign, aimed at supporting humanitarian projects inside the country, organizers said.

The fundraising drive took place on Sunday night, the 27th night of Ramadan, and was organized in cooperation with Rafeeq Company and the Msheireb Media.

The campaign featured a live broadcast lasting two and a half hours, hosted by social media influencer Hamad Al Jameela, with the participation of senior QRCS officials. It attracted significant engagement from the public on social media, reflecting what organizers described as a strong spirit of solidarity and generosity during the holy month.

According to the charity, the total amount raised included QR 23.09 million in cash donations that will be directed towards local initiatives under its Ramadan campaign "Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive". These projects support vulnerable families and individuals registered in the organization's beneficiary database in Qatar.

The remaining donations consisted of medical supplies worth QR 144 million that will be delivered to people in need abroad.

HE Ibrahim bin Hashim Al Sada, QRCS' managing director and secretary-general, praised the swift response from the community, saying the campaign highlighted the spirit of unity and compassion within Qatari society.

"What has been achieved in these circumstances reflects the depth of humanitarian awareness and social responsibility in our community," he said, adding that generosity remains a deeply rooted value among the people of Qatar.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Bishri, assistant secretary-general for communications and resource development, said the strong participation demonstrated the community's awareness of the importance of humanitarian solidarity. He also thanked contributors and partners, including Amwaj Group, Alfardan Corporation, United Development Company and Taiba.

Hussein Aman Al Ali, assistant secretary-general for volunteering and local development, said the funds raised within Qatar would support debtors, vulnerable families and patients requiring urgent medical procedures, as well as other people in need registered with the organization.

He added that the campaign reflected a long-standing culture of charity and humanitarian work in Qatari society, with individuals and institutions alike contributing to the effort. (QNA)
