Amman, March 16 (QNA) - Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi met Monday with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelaaty to discuss the repercussions of the dangerous escalation in the region and prospects for sparing a wider conflict.

During the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of joint coordination regarding regional developments and building upon existing coordination mechanisms between the two countries in a way that serves their common interests and positively impacts both nations.

The two ministers reiterated their condemnation of Iranian attacks on Jordan and the Gulf Arab states, rejecting these attacks as an "unjustified" escalation and a "blatant violation" of international law and state sovereignty.

The ministers also condemned Israel's continued restrictions on freedom of worship and its ongoing closure of the gates of Al Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif to worshipers, considering it a flagrant violation of international law, the existing legal and historical status quo, and Israel's obligations as an occupying power.

They warned of the dangers of this continued practice. (QNA)
