SJC, Qatar University Celebrate First Cohort Graduation of Family Mediation Diploma
Doha, February 09 (QNA) - The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), in collaboration with Qatar University (QU), celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the Family Mediation Diploma in a move that demonstrates the advancement of restorative justice in the State of Qatar.
It likewise enhances the corporate path intended to consolidate amicable solutions for familial disputes, culminating in the launch of the occupational diploma in November 2025, during which 20 family mediators finalized extensive training supervised by QU's Community Service and Continuing Education Center.
The program included integrated scientific and applied content that primarily focused on imbuing participants with advanced skills in administering and settling family disputes based on state-of-the-art occupational practices.
In addition, the program represents a strategic step to build a qualified national workforce in this kind of mediation, capable of handling family disputes through modern and effective techniques. This aligns with SJC's orientations toward prioritizing restorative justice as a primary option prior to litigation, in support of the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 to reinforce a tight-knit community and protect the family entity.
In previous remarks to the local press, Administrative Director of the Family Court Khamis Al Muraikhi suggested that the program is a significant pillar to enhance the court's work quality, as well as the workforce responsible with the enforcement of conciliation strategies. This helps reduce social and psychological impacts of family disputes, particularly on children.
This diploma is academically approved and includes 60 hours of training, which is periodically laid out at each academic class to qualify new cohorts of family mediators, Al Muraikhi outlined.
Overall, SJC emphasized that the graduation of this cohort represents an incredible addition to the family mediation system in the nation through mobilizing approved mediators to work in the Family Court and the Family Reconciliation Office, offering advanced amicable alternatives for dispute resolution away from litigation procedures and helping beef up family stability and social balance.
