Russia Says Communications with US Ongoing, Proposes Resuming Direct Flights
Moscow, February 09 (QNA) - Russia's Foreign Ministry said Monday that its communications with the United States remain active and have never stopped.
Alexander Gusarov, Head of the North Atlantic Affairs Department, noted that a 2025 dialogue between Russian Ambassador to the US, Alexander Darchiev, and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Sonata Coulter, led to agreements improving the functioning of both countries' diplomatic missions.
Gusarov added that Russia has proposed resuming direct flights to the United States, a step he said could boost humanitarian, trade, and investment ties, leaving the decision now to Washington.
He also emphasized that both sides are making constructive efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through a comprehensive and sustainable settlement, based on agreements reached in Anchorage.
Recent communications between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have covered a wide range of bilateral and international issues, not limited to the Ukraine crisis. (QNA)
