Doha, February 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in cooperation with the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants (QCPA), organized a training workshop entitled 'challenges of compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements, and the mechanism for addressing them,' in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Commercial Affairs at the MOCI, Saleh Abdullah Al Mana, and with the participation of a number of auditors and representatives of the QCPA.

This workshop comes as part of the MOCI's ongoing efforts to enhance the compliance system and raise the efficiency of workers in the relevant sectors. It aims to lay the foundations for dialogue between the public and private sectors, through which the problems of professionals are heard and the challenges they face in fulfilling their obligations are monitored, which helps the MOCI to develop policies and take measures to address legislative or regulatory shortcomings, which would raise the level of compliance.

The workshop addressed the key challenges facing compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements, and reviewed the practical mechanisms for addressing them, based on practical experience. In addition, it explored ways to enhance communication and interaction channels between the MOCI and auditors to contribute to building a professional partnership based on transparency and cooperation.

This workshop reflects the MOCI's keenness to strengthen partnerships with specialized professional bodies and support institutional capacity building, with the aim of raising the level of compliance in this sector to the best possible levels, in preparation for the upcoming mutual evaluation process for the State of Qatar by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
