Gaza Health Ministry Warns of Complete Shutdown of Laboratories, Blood Banks
Gaza, February 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned that laboratories and blood banks in the Strip are at risk of a complete shutdown, amid the continued halt in the entry of laboratory supplies.
In a statement, the Ministry said that the shortage rate of critical laboratory testing materials has reached 84 percent, while shortage of laboratory consumables and supplies stands at approximately 71 percent. It called on relevant authorities to intervene urgently to replenish laboratory and blood bank stocks, which are now facing imminent service suspension.
The health sector in the Gaza Strip is experiencing a severe crisis as a result of direct targeting by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and continued prevention of the entry of medicines and medical supplies, despite the presence of supply and aid trucks amassed at the borders, of which only limited numbers are permitted to enter, insufficient to meet the sector's needs.
