Doha, February 07 (QNA) - The contests of the Arabian Purebred Championship, the first tournaments of the 6th Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF) 2026, concluded in Doha on Saturday. The event will run until Feb. 12, 2026.
The tournament wound up its finals across multiple age categories. Yearling fillies and colts, as well as two- to three-year-old horses, competed fiercely, producing top performances in both female and male divisions.
The adult mares and stallion categories also showcased strong competition, with winners emerging from prominent Qatari and regional stables.
The event highlighted the ongoing tradition of excellence in horse breeding and racing across Qatar and the Gulf region.
Overall, the championship reinforced Qatar's role in promoting and preserving the heritage of purebred Arabian horses while celebrating skill, strategy, and competitive spirit.
General Manager of Katara Cultural Village Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti honored the members of the judging panel participating in the tournament that showcased 232 horses representing Qatar, Bahrain, France, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America.
Director of Marketing at Katara and Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (Public Relations and Communication), Malika Mohammed Al Shraim, said the festival positions itself as a global cultural hub projecting Arabian Purebred horses as a civilizational symbol that manifests the depth of the Arab legacy and its ability to communicate with wide-ranging global cultures.
She settled on the fact that the festival goes beyond merely a competitive event to be a crossroads for relaying an integrated cultural message that promotes Katara and its role in protecting heritage and showcasing it in an epochal spirit.
Al Shraim added that these tournaments are squarely reflected in Katara's cultural and heritage marketing strategy through adopting outstanding events as a soft marketing tool that helps build an enduring cognizant image and reinforce Katara's global presence as a crossroads for culture, sports, and tourism.
