Arab League Condemns Targeting of Aid Convoys in Sudan, Calls It "War Crime"
Cairo, February 08 (QNA) - The Arab League condemned in the strongest terms the attack that targeted humanitarian aid convoys and relief workers in North Kordofan State in Sudan, resulting in casualties and the destruction of food supplies intended for besieged civilians facing extremely harsh humanitarian conditions.
In a statement on Sunday, the Arab League considered this attack to be a full-fledged war crime according to international humanitarian law, which criminalizes the deliberate targeting of civilians and depriving them of survival means, stressing the need to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable, put an end to impunity, and provide full protection for civilians, humanitarian workers, and relief facilities in Sudan.
The Sudanese people, who have borne heavy burdens as a result of the conflict, have the full right to security, stability and a legitimate decent life, the statement added, emphasizing the continuation of its efforts with its regional and international partners to work to stop the violence and support a comprehensive political process that ends the conflict, preserves the unity of Sudan and the unity of its national institutions, and safeguards the dignity of its people.
