Minister of State for Foreign Trade Chairs Qatari Side at Trade Session of Qatar-Spain Strategic Dialogue
Doha, February 26 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayed and HE Secretary of State for Trade at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise of the Kingdom of Spain, Amparo Senovilla, chaired a session on trade and investment cooperation, held as part of the second Qatar-Spain Strategic Dialogue.
The session, held virtually, was attended by senior officials, department directors, and representatives of government entities and economic and investment institutions from both countries.
In his opening remarks, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs emphasized that the strategic dialogue represents an important platform for advancing economic relations between Qatar and Spain to broader horizons and translating mutual understanding into practical partnerships that support sustainable growth in both countries.
His Excellency highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral trade and investment relations in recent years, reflected in the growth of trade exchange, which he said lays the foundation for a new phase of productive economic cooperation.
He reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to fostering an attractive and stable investment environment, stressing the importance of completing procedures for signing the Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments. He also expressed Qatar's aspiration to establish a joint Qatar-Spain business council to further strengthen ties between the business communities of both countries.
The session addressed a range of priority topics, including investment and trade opportunities, updates on bilateral cooperation agreements, the investment climate in Qatar and opportunities in the Spanish market, mechanisms for financing trade and projects, and ways to enhance communication between the private sectors of both countries.
Participants also reviewed the current state of mutual investments, including the growing Spanish presence in the Qatari market and Qatari investments in Spain, as well as the opportunities and incentives offered by Qatar's free zones.
Discussions further explored ways to strengthen strategic connectivity between the two countries, particularly in air transport, aviation services and logistics, in addition to opportunities for cooperation in sustainable agriculture, agricultural technology and enhancing the resilience of food supply chains.
The session concluded with both sides affirming their commitment to continuing joint efforts to strengthen the economic, trade and investment partnership and expand bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries. (QNA)
