Arab League Stresses Importance of Continued and Increased Support for UNRWA
Cairo, February 26 (QNA) - The Arab League affirmed Thursday the importance of continuing and increasing support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and all efforts aimed at providing relief to the Palestinian people.
It also stressed the necessity of enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination by ending the occupation and establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, considering this the only way to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region.
This came during a meeting held by Ambassador Faed Mustafa, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector at the Arab League, with Anne Kofoed, Deputy Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt, at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting addressed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the implementation of early recovery and reconstruction programs in the Strip, in addition to international efforts aimed at implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
