Doha, February 24 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced Tuesday the continuation of the On-the-go Ramadan Iftar initiative, implemented daily at Katara Cultural Village, for the third consecutive year as part of its Ramadan Campaign for 1447 AH under the theme "Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive".

QRCS stated that volunteers are stationed at Katara to distribute Ramadan Iftar meals to visitors of the Ramadan Cannon area, as well as to motorists passing by during Iftar time, at a rate of 350 meals per day, totaling 10,150 meals throughout the holy month.

The Society also noted that Ramadan Iftar projects for those in need are ongoing worldwide. In Gaza, 17,833 food parcels are being distributed to displaced families at a total cost of USD 1,850,000 to enhance the resilience of the people of Gaza and help them observe fasting during Ramadan.

As part of its extensive humanitarian interventions in Afghanistan, QRCS, in partnership with the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) and in coordination with local authorities and community leaders, launched Ramadan Iftar food distributions for poor families in remote and mountain areas of Paktika and Zabul Provinces. So far, 400 food parcels have been distributed in Nematabad District (Paktika) and 364 in Mezana District (Zabul).

Earlier, two QRCS teams visited the target provinces to conduct field assessments and identify the initial needs of the most vulnerable families. Distributions will resume in Chahar Baran and Gomal Districts (Paktika), with 200 food parcels each, bringing the total target to 1,164 food parcels at a total cost of QAR 700,000.

In collaboration with Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS), QRCS concluded its Ramadan Iftar project in Tanzania by distributing food parcels to 168 poor families, or 1,176 individuals, across the five districts of Dar es Salaam Region: Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Ubungo, and Kigamboni.

In Chad, Ramadan food parcels were distributed in collaboration with Organization Medicale Tchadienne (OMT) and the Red Cross of Chad, each containing 45 kg of rice, flour, sugar, and vegetable oil, benefiting 160 families, or 1,280 persons.

Preparations are underway to distribute 500 Ramadan food parcels through the Albanian Red Cross to 2,000 vulnerable people in several counties of Albania.

In the Northeast State of Somalia, 1,951 one-month food parcels, each weighing 66.5 kg, were distributed to 10,806 beneficiaries in Laascaanood, in addition to 210 patients with respiratory diseases and 690 persons with disabilities, at a total cost of USD 184,931. (QNA)
