Inflation Rate in Oman Rises by 1.4 Percent
Muscat, February 24 (QNA) - The general consumer price index in Oman increased by 1.4 percent in January 2026 compared to the same month in 2025.
Data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the miscellaneous personal goods and services category led the price increases, recording a significant rise of 13.2 percent. This was followed by the restaurants and hotels category, which saw a 5.9 percent increase, then the furniture, household equipment, and maintenance category at 2.6 percent.
The education category rose by 2.2 percent, the health category by 1.7 percent, and the food and beverages category by 0.9 percent. The clothing and footwear category also saw a 0.1 percent increase, while the transport category recorded a price decrease of 0.3 percent.
Prices for the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels category, the recreation and culture category, and the communications category remained unchanged. (QNA)
