Cairo, February 24 (QNA) - Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, discussed Tuesday via phone the regional and international issues of mutual interest, alongside ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the call, the two ministers reviewed rapid regional developments and the necessary efforts required to de-escalate and contain rising tensions in the region.

In this context, Abdelatty touched upon the efforts exerted by his country to attempt to create an appropriate atmosphere for the continuation of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

He emphasized pushing toward a peaceful, consensus-based settlement that achieves the interests of the concerned parties and addresses concerns related to the Iranian nuclear file, thereby sparing the region further escalation and congestion.

Regarding joint cooperation, the two ministers noted the strong relations between their countries and the progress being made across various cooperation tracks, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. (QNA)
