13 Al Shabaab Militants Killed in Somalia
Mogadishu, February 02 (QNA) - Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) carried out a planned operation in the Maxaa Saciid area of Middle Shabelle region in southeastern Somalia, targeting a house where senior leaders of the Al Shabaab movement were holding a meeting.
According to Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the targeted leaders were meeting to plot attacks and pressure local residents into forcibly paying money; However, NISA thwarted these plans after ending their movements in the area.
The operation resulted in the killing of 13 Al-Shabaab members, including five senior commanders.
In addition, up to eight other militants, including three commanders, were seriously wounded during the operation.
Over the past few days, the Somali army has announced the elimination of a number of Al Shabaab militants and the recapture of areas previously under Al Shabaab control in southern Somalia. (QNA)
