Doha, February 14 (QNA) - Alaqraboon Center of Qatar Charity (QC) has launched its Ramadan campaign to support low-income families and expand social assistance and welfare services across the State of Qatar.

In a statement, Qatar Charity said: " The campaign seeks to raise QAR 100 million and coincides with the official launch of the Alaqraboon Center earlier this year, following a decision by Qatar Charity's Board of Directors in December 2025 to establish the Center as a specialized entity for social assistance within the country".

Head of Alaqraboon Center Faisal Rashid AlFehaida said the Center was established as an extension of Qatar Charity's long-standing social welfare efforts and Alaqraboon platform, responding to rising community needs through a specialized structure capable of delivering targeted programs and interventions that directly improve the lives of low-income groups.

"With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Center's Ramadan campaign, with a fundraising target of QAR 100 million, aimed at expanding our assistance programs and increasing the number of those sponsored through the center," he added.

He stressed that the Center operates through modern systems and transparent, effective practices, supported by partnerships with government entities, national institutions, and the private sector, to unify efforts in serving the most vulnerable groups.

For his part, Director of Local Social Welfare at Alaqraboon Center Abdulla AlDosari said the campaign includes a comprehensive package of Ramadan projects and assistance programs.

He noted that among the key initiatives is Ramadan Supply, which will provide shopping vouchers ahead of the holy month and is expected to benefit around 60,000 people, in addition to Food Basket distributions targeting approximately 10,000 beneficiaries.

He added that the "Khair Kitchen" project will deliver hot Iftar meals to low-income families throughout Ramadan, in cooperation with productive Qatari families and in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development and Family, benefiting an 30,000 people.

Al Dosari also highlighted the Zakat Al-Fitr project, implemented during the final days of Ramadan and expected to benefit around 10,000 individuals, alongside Iftar and Ghabga gatherings for approximately 1,000 orphans.

He indicated that the total number of sponsorships within Qatar currently stands at around 1,600, including approximately 1,300 orphans, in addition to the distribution of Eid gifts for orphans to bring joy and happiness to their hearts.

Meanwhile, Senior Head of Aid Program at the Alaqraboon Center Mohammad Ali Al Mal outlined the Center's implementation mechanism, explaining that it begins with receiving applications through Alaqraboon app, followed by electronic verification of data to enhance accuracy, accelerate procedures, and ensure fairness.

He added that this process is followed by the work of specialized social research teams tasked with assessing needs and formulating appropriate recommendations for each case, with particular emphasis on rapid response to emergency situations.

He added that assistance under the campaign spans key areas including basic living needs, healthcare, education, housing, sponsorships, and seasonal initiatives, delivered through various support channels such as financial aid, health and education support, shopping vouchers, family and orphan sponsorships, assistance for debtors and prisoners' families, and emergency humanitarian response.
