Doha, February 12 (QNA) - The National Planning Council (NPC) organized an intensive executive Program for government leaders titled “Strategic Foresight as a Decision-Making Tool in Environments of Uncertainty”.

The program is part of the NPC’s continuous efforts to enhance the skills of leaders in addressing rapidly evolving challenges in today’s dynamic work environments.

A statement from the council said that Feb. 11 and 12 saw the program bring together assistant undersecretaries from ministries and CEOs from the private sector, providing an interactive platform for sharing experiences and insights on global best practices in strategic foresight, risk management and decision-making.

Commenting on the program, Assistant Secretary-General for the Center for Future Foresight and National Visions at NPC Bassam Issa Al Mannai said that: "This intensive program reflects the Council’s commitment to enhancing foresight capabilities of leaders across ministries, government entities and the private sector, supporting decision-making grounded in a deeper understanding of future trends. Developing foresight skills is a cornerstone of the broader development agenda, enabling organizations to navigate complexities and challenges while turning them into opportunities for progress."

The program covered practical modules, including the use of strategic foresight as a decision-support tool, the adoption of systemic thinking methodologies in planning and governance, and the review of models and case studies from leading global organizations. This approach provided participants with a focused learning experience tailored to the national context, leveraging proven frameworks in foresight, risk management, and the translation of theoretical concepts into actionable practices.

The program aimed to empower leaders to apply foresight in evidence-based decision-making, enhance risk awareness, explore future opportunities, and lay the foundation for long-term capacity-building partnerships in national foresight initiatives.

It also contributed to the design of future learning programs in Arabic to meet the evolving needs of government entities.

This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, supporting the development of future-ready government institutions committed to inclusive, sustainable development through proactive planning and institutional innovation. (QNA)
