Seoul, February 11 (QNA) - Senior defense officials from South Korea and the United States held talks on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance their joint support capabilities, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the Joint Chiefs of Staff's Chief of Military Support, Gu Sang-mo, and the Director of the US Defense Logistics Agency, Mark Simerly, discussed ways to deepen their joint support capabilities based on the steadfast alliance between South Korea and the US, and agreed that support operations are a crucial factor in a changing security environment.
Gu noted that cooperation with the agency, which is tasked with supporting the defense logistics of US forces worldwide, is essential to maintaining a common defense posture, calling for further strengthening of coordination between them to ensure immediate and continuous military support in the event of an emergency.
The director of the agency affirmed that the US prioritizes supply chain management through the Indo-Pacific Command for the defense of South Korea, which he described as a key ally, and pledged to strengthen the partnership with the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The two sides also agreed to expand communication between the countries and to conduct regular contacts between them to explore ways to enhance cooperation between them. (QNA)
