Kyiv, February 11 (QNA) - Four people, including three children, were killed and two others injured in a Russian airstrike targeting the city of Bohodukhiv in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region, local authorities said Wednesday.

Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said the strike formed part of continued Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and energy facilities. He noted that the intensified assaults have exacerbated civilian suffering and disrupted daily life across affected areas.

Meanwhile, Ivan Fedorov, Governor of the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, reported that Russian strikes left approximately 11,000 people without electricity amid freezing temperatures reaching minus 9 degrees Celsius, further worsening the humanitarian situation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Tuesday that the country’s air defense system would undergo comprehensive restructuring to strengthen its ability to counter sustained Russian aerial attacks.

Zelenskyy said the move is intended to enhance Ukraine’s response to repeated strikes which, during the harsh winter months, have caused widespread power and heating outages in numerous cities, affecting millions of civilians.

Separately, Russian local reports indicated that Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in the city of Volgograd overnight, sparking a fire at the facility.

The refinery is operated by Russian energy company Lukoil. The incident marks the first reported drone attack on the facility this year.

Ukraine has regularly carried out strikes inside Russian territory and Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine, describing energy infrastructure as legitimate military targets on the grounds that they support Moscow’s war effort. (QNA)
