Over 10 Boko Haram Militants Killed in Northeast Nigeria Operation
Abuja, February 01 (QNA) - Over ten armed militants were killed in a security operation in northeastern Nigeria.
A statement by the Nigerian military on Sunday reported that the army had successfully killed a senior leader of the Boko Haram group along with ten other militants during a security operation in Borno State. It emphasized that none of its troops were injured during the operation.
The security forces continue to carry out clearance operations throughout the Sambisa Forest, the Mandara Mountains, the Timbuktu Triangle, and other known hideouts of armed elements in northeastern Nigeria, the statement continued.
Notably, the area is mostly coming under attacks from the Boko Haram group, which started its insurrection in northeast Nigeria in 2009, resulting in the slaying of almost 40,000 individuals and forcing nearly two million people to flee their homes.
The violence has extended to Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, prompting the formation of a regional force to battle armed groups. (QNA)
