Gaza Death Toll Rises to 71,795, Health Ministry Says
Gaza, February 01 (QNA) - The death toll from Israeli occupation's military offensive in the Gaza Strip has risen to 71795 with 171,551 people injured, according to Gaza's health ministry.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said that 26 bodies and 68 wounded people had been brought to hospitals across the territory over the past 48 hours. It added that a number of victims were still believed to be trapped under rubble or lying in streets, with ambulance and rescue teams unable to reach them.
The ministry said that since a ceasefire came into effect in October, at least 523 people had been killed and 1,433 injured, while 715 bodies had been recovered from debris.
A ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel entered into force in October, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of Gaza and the return of displaced residents to the north of the territory.
The truce forms part of the first phase of an initiative proposed by US President Donald Trump, aimed at bringing an end to the war in Gaza.
The conflict began on Oct. 7, 2023. (QNA)
