8th Samla 200 Race to Kick Off in December at Al Kharaij Beach
Doha, November 08 (QNA) - The Qatar Challenge Racing Club (Samla) on Sunday unveiled details of the eighth Samla 200 Race, a grueling 200-kilometer contest scheduled to kick off Dec. 3, with an elite cohort of Qatari youth set to compete and a new team relay category augmenting the event for the first time.
Held under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the race spans seven diverse stages featuring swimming, running, kayaking, shooting and mountain biking, the Club highlighted, adding that participants must complete the race within a maximum of 44 hours.
This novel iteration will introduce a team relay category featuring three-member squads, with competitors taking on different stages of the grueling race. The course will set off from Al Kharaij Beach, sweep through several areas, and culminate at the same location where it began.
President of Samla Azzam Abdulaziz Al Mannai said this race is evidently a test for willingness and determination to endure the grueling physical demands, assuring that the club is committed to fostering the culture of challenging sport and inspiring a new generation of homegrown athletes.
As such, the organizing committee has dedicated prizes in cash for winners reaching QAR 500,000 to the first-place finisher, QAR 300,000 to the runner-up and QAR 200,000 to the third-place finisher, while the winning team in the relay category will take home QAR 60,000. (QNA)
