Qatar Charity Inaugurates New Solar-Powered Water Project in Tanzania
Dodoma, November 03 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) inaugurated a solar-powered integrated water project in Chiboli Village, Chamwino District, Dodoma Region, Tanzania, benefiting approximately 5,000 people, as part of its efforts to enhance access to safe and clean water for local communities.
A statement by QC on Tuesday highlighted that the project includes a deep borehole, a 45,000-liter water storage tank, and two water distribution points, contributing to improved health and public hygiene, easing the burden of obtaining water, and supporting socio-economic development in the area.
Chamwino District Commissioner Janeth Mayanja expressed her appreciation to QC for implementing the project, noting that it will serve four villages, a health dispensary, and a secondary school.
Mayanja noted that, before the project was implemented, residents had to travel a distance of up to 3.5 kilometers to obtain water, a situation that the project will help address by improving their lives and facilitating their access to essential services.
For his part, Acting Country Director of QC in Tanzania, Syed Shujaat Ali Shah, praised the cooperation of local authorities and the community in completing the project, reaffirming QC's commitment to continuing its sustainable development interventions across Tanzania, particularly in the most vulnerable communities.
The project builds on QC's efforts in Tanzania's water sector. During the first half of this year, its Tanzania Branch implemented several projects, including 30 wells equipped with solar-powered systems. (QNA)
