Saudi Civil Aviation Authority Reports 3 Dead, 36 Injured in Attacks on Abha, King Khalid Airports
Riyadh, October 07 (QNA) - Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that two attacks on the facilities of Abha International Airport in the Asir region and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh left three residents dead and 36 others injured.
In a statement published Wednesday by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), GACA said the attacks took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, with emergency teams and appropriate authorities immediately responding to them in conformity with the approved measures and plans.
At Abha International Airport, the casualties included two residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian, who were killed, as well as 30 people who were injured, including 28 citizens and two residents, one Bangladeshi and one Filipino. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious.
At King Khalid International Airport, a Sudanese resident was killed, while eight others were injured, including five citizens, two Egyptian residents and one Pakistani resident. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious.
Those injured were hospitalized, the statement said, adding that the attacks caused some material damage.
As such, GACA confirmed that it is engaged in persistent and concerted efforts with the designated security agencies to assess the damage and take all essential measures to ensure the safety of travelers and operators, as well as safeguard the security and safety of the Kingdom's civil aviation system.
