Qatar Charity, Zanzibar Government Sign MoU to Support Persons with Disabilities
Dodoma, October 06 (QNA) - Qatar Charity, through its Tanzania Branch, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the First Vice President’s Office of Zanzibar to strengthen cooperation in implementing humanitarian and development initiatives for persons with disabilities.
The partnership aims to empower them, promote their social and economic inclusion, and improve their quality of life.
The MoU was signed by Acting Country Director of Qatar Charity in Tanzania Syed Shujaat Ali Shah and Permanent Secretary at the First Vice President's Office of Zanzibar Maryam Juma Abdulla.
The MoU establishes a framework for developing and implementing programs and projects in humanitarian assistance, social welfare, livelihoods, economic empowerment, accessibility, capacity building, and community awareness. It also lays the foundation for future joint initiatives and projects that will deliver a positive and lasting impact for vulnerable groups and local communities across the islands.
In this context, Maryam Juma Abdulla commended Qatar Charity's humanitarian and development contributions in Zanzibar, particularly its sponsorship of more than 400 orphans and its support for local communities in social welfare, education, economic empowerment, and access to safe drinking water.
For his part, Syed Shujaat Ali Shah reaffirmed Qatar Charity's commitment to expanding its development interventions.
Under its "Ibsar" Initiative, Qatar Charity implemented a specialized eye care and surgery campaign in Zanzibar, benefiting almost 3,900 people, distributed more than 415 prescription eyeglasses, and performed 404 cataract surgeries. (QNA)
