Syria Denounces Israel's Relentless Attacks and Completion of So-Called "Sufa 53" Line
Damascus, October 04 (QNA) - The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lambasted the ongoing Israeli assaults on Syrian territory, the latest of which was the completion of work on the so-called "Sufa 53" line.
In a statement, the ministry deemed the move a clear breach of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement and a flagrant violation of international resolutions.
The ministry stressed that the occupation’s unabated attacks and ground incursions represents a direct threat to regional security and stability, as well as vitiates the provisions of international law. It called on the international community to take deterrent actions to terminate these actions and prevent their recurrence.
Syria adheres to its legitimate right to exercise full sovereignty over its territory in conformity with the principles of international law and the relevant UN resolutions, the statement reaffirmed.
Israeli occupation forces continued their relentless violations inside Syrian territory Sunday, carrying out illegal excavation work along the separation line with the occupied Golan Heights, west of the village of Al-Asha in the Quneitra countryside, under what the occupation forces call the "Sufa 53" project.
The official Syrian channel reported that the Israeli plan calls for carving out an 8-meter-wide military road, fortified with earthen berms as high as 5 meters, as well as digging trenches and establishing observation posts along the route running alongside the occupied Syrian Golan Heights inside the buffer zone.
