Doha, October 26 (QNA) - The Ministry of Municipality, represented by Al Wakra Municipality, signed Monday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) to foster collaboration in innovation, sustainability, applied research, and modern technology, aiming to advance municipal operations and elevate community services.

The MoU was signed on behalf of Al Wakra Municipality by Director General of Al Wakra Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber, and on behalf of the University of Doha for Science and Technology by President of UDST Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi, in the presence of officials and representatives from both institutions.

The agreement encompasses the development of smart and sustainable solutions, the application of artificial intelligence and modern technologies, support for scientific research and student initiatives, and the implementation of joint training programs. These efforts reflect a shared commitment to leveraging knowledge and technology to optimize municipal performance and improve the quality of life within the community.

Director General of Al Wakra Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber stated that the MoU aligns with the municipality's commitment to strengthening partnerships with academic institutions and utilizing scientific expertise to enhance municipal work. He expressed aspirations to build an effective partnership combining municipal field experience with academic research capabilities to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for municipal challenges.

For his part, President of the University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi emphasized the significance of the memorandum in fostering integration between scientific research and the practical needs of municipal sector through emerging technology. He noted that the partnership creates opportunities for joint initiatives that harness academic capabilities and encourage researchers and students to contribute to sustainable development. (QNA)
