GCC Secretary-General Condemns Houthi Attack on Areas in Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, October 24 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, strongly condemned a Houthi attack on several areas of Saudi Arabia that resulted in debris from two intercepted ballistic missiles falling in Wadi Al-Maghamis in the Makkah region, as well as interception shrapnel landing in locations across the governorates of Jeddah, Taif and Rabigh.
In a statement, Albudaiwi said the attack demonstrated a flagrant disregard for civilian lives and safety and constituted a criminal escalation threatening the security and stability of the region.
He stressed that exposing Makkah to the risks posed by such attacks was an extremely serious violation of the sanctity of holy sites and an affront to the feelings of Muslims around the world, adding that it could not be justified or tolerated under any pretext.
The secretary-general affirmed that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of the security of all GCC member states.
He said the member states stood united with Saudi Arabia in confronting such attacks and supported all measures it took to protect its territory and safeguard the security of its citizens and residents.
Albudaiwi called on the international community to take a firm stance and adopt effective measures to put an end to such attacks. (QNA)
