Qatar Strongly Condemns Houthi Attack on Power Station Serving Prophet's Mosque
Doha, October 01 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has strongly condemned a Houthi attack on a power station in Saudi Arabia's holy city of Medina.
Earlier on Thursday, the coalition fighting Houthi group in Yemen announced a drone attack on a power distribution facility serving the Prophet's Mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites, as well as other civilian locations.
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Doha condemns the attack "in the strongest possible terms", describing it as a "grave act of aggression" on Islamic sacred sites, a provocation to Muslims worldwide, and an "unacceptable" disregard of civilian lives.
The ministry added the attack constituted a "flagrant" violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and the rules of international law.
The State of Qatar reiterated its firm rejection of attacks targeting religious sites, civilian infrastructure and civilians, and called for an immediate halt to such actions.
The statement also reaffirmed Qatar's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for measures taken by the kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and interests.
The ministry said Saudi Arabia's security was an integral part of Qatar's security and the collective security framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. (QNA)
