Monitoring Group Reports 280 Israeli Violations in Syria in September
Damascus, October 02 (QNA) - A monitoring group documenting Israeli violations in Syria has recorded 280 cases during September, an increase of about 5% from the previous month.
The Sajel center said the total number of documented violations since the beginning of 2026 had reached 2,032.
Quneitra recorded the highest number in September, with 192 incidents, followed by Daraa with 67 and the Damascus countryside with 21.
The center reported 24 artillery shelling incidents during the month, up 50% from August and the highest monthly figure recorded this year. It said the shelling targeted areas around villages, farmland and locations used by shepherds and farmers, with livestock reportedly killed in western Quneitra and Daraa.
The report also documented 113 ground incursions, compared with 109 in August. It said Israeli patrols and military vehicles entered villages, agricultural roads and areas around dams and hills, with some operations involving questioning shepherds and farmers, gunfire in populated and agricultural areas, and an assault on a shepherd.
A further 58 military and reconnaissance aircraft flights were recorded, mainly over Quneitra and Daraa, as well as parts of the Damascus countryside and areas near the disengagement line.
The center said 257 people had been detained in southern Syria since Dec. 8, 2024, of whom 36 remained in detention, in addition to five Syrians detained before that date. Following the release of one detainee on October 1, the total number of Syrians still held was 40, according to the report. (QNA)
