Doha, October 18 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Culture has called on all calligraphers and innovators worldwide to register for and participate in the second "Akhlaq" ("Morals") international calligraphy art award.

It recalled that the final deadline of Nov. 1, 2026, is approaching for receiving submissions for the first phase.

The primary objective of this contest is to substantially revive this kind of art while safeguarding its enduring traditional rules and spotlighting the value of the highest moral values as a pivotal theme of the competition, in addition to reinforcing human values and helping protect both Arab and Islamic heritage.

The award broadly aspires to achieve an integrated artistic perspective that deepens values and elevates the status of morality in culture and the arts. It likewise intends to affirm that the highest moral values and Arabic calligraphy are inextricably linked.

In addition, the prize aims to support innovators and encourage calligraphers around the globe to connect, share expertise, and sharpen their individual skills.

The contest's organizing panel has set mandatory requirements for all participants, foremost among them consummate mastery of the time-honored rules of Arabic calligraphy. Each participant may submit one work and must choose their own text from the approved list of 20 proposed sentences for the first phase.

Before submitting their work, participants are required to fill out the online registration form and submit a scanned copy of the work, at a resolution of no less than 600 dpi, to the designated email address.

All participants are required to observe confidentiality and integrity by refraining from adding any signature or symbol that may identify them on their artwork.

The Ministry has allocated cash prizes to recognize the winners and support their artistic careers. This initiative reflects the stature of Arabic calligraphy as an artistic treasure that has grown out of a rich cultural heritage.

This kind of art is no longer merely ink on paper, but rather the pulse of a nation and an expression of a civilization that gives written form to the highest human values. (QNA)
