Yemen Coalition Spokesperson: Houthi Group Acquired Advanced Technologies with Regional Support
Riyadh, October 15 (QNA) - Official spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al Maliki affirmed on Thursday that Houthi attacks on airports and civilian facilities pose a direct threat to civilian security and passenger safety, constituting a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and customary rules.
Addressing a press conference regarding the targeting of King Khalid International Airport, the spokesperson extended condolences to the families of victims killed in the attacks and wished a swift recovery for the injured. He highlighted the grave dangers of targeting holy sites, civilians, and civilian infrastructure, noting that such actions reflect an approach fundamentally at odds with international human principles and ethics.
The spokesperson condemned the attacks carried out by Houthi group against civilian targets in the Kingdom, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, characterizing them as part of an ongoing series of strikes against civilian installations used daily by tens of thousands of individuals.
He explained that the targeting of Makkah and Madinah represents an extension of a systematic hostile approach that threatens the security of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of pilgrims, while terrorizing civilians, underscoring the imperative of implementing all necessary measures to safeguard the Kingdom's security and holy sites.
He further noted that Houthi group has acquired advanced technologies with regional assistance, making it the first non-state armed group to deploy ballistic missiles, offensive and suicide drones, and explosive-laden high-speed boats. He added that the Joint Coalition Forces Command has dismantled a network of mountain-based storage facilities established by the group in Sana'a, Saada, and Amran used to launch attacks against Yemen and neighboring states, while also destroying multiple missile launchers.
The official highlighted that Saudi air defense systems demonstrated high efficiency in intercepting threats and neutralizing attack attempts, affirming that the Joint Coalition Forces Command continues to enforce measures to counter threats and dismantle offensive capabilities, including weapons depots and launcher sites.
The spokesperson stated that the Joint Coalition Forces Command confirmed Houthi group's use of civilian infrastructure and vital energy resources for military operations, specifying the Al-Sabaha central station in Sana'a, along with underground fuel reserves, storage tanks, and fuel transport terminals in Hodeidah, Sana'a, and Dhamar.
He emphasized the necessity of an immediate cessation of all Houthi operations targeting civilians and civilian objects, including airports, ports, oil facilities, and public infrastructure. (QNA)
