Doha, October 14 (QNA) - United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar to strengthen cooperation in education, research, strategic studies and community development.

The MoU was signed by UDC President and CEO Yasser Salah Al Jaidah and Carnegie Mellon Qatar Dean Michael Trick.

The partnership will link UDC's expertise in developing and managing integrated destinations with the university's academic and research capabilities, focusing on artificial intelligence, computer science, business administration and information systems.

Al Jaidah said the agreement would support collaboration in research, education, knowledge exchange and student engagement, connecting academic expertise with real-world opportunities and challenges to create practical value for the company, the university and the wider community.

Trick said strategic partnerships between universities and industry encouraged innovation and helped students develop solutions to real-world challenges.

He welcomed the collaboration as an opportunity for students to understand the complex strategies involved in building communities.

The MoU also provides for exchanges between professionals and researchers, joint conferences, seminars and workshops, and student opportunities in internships, employment and community initiatives organised by UDC. (QNA)
