Environment Ministry Holds Consultative Workshop to Update National Biodiversity Strategy
Doha, October 13 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change held a consultative workshop attended by government entities, national institutions and private-sector representatives as part of ongoing efforts to update Qatar's National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and coordinate national efforts to conserve and protect natural resources.
The workshop aimed to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders and brought together representatives of the Ministry of Municipality, QatarEnergy, Earthna, a Qatar Foundation center, the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), ExxonMobil and several departments within the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Assistant Director of the Wildlife Development Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dhafi Haidan, said the workshop provided a forum for exchanging views and expertise on key challenges and opportunities related to ecosystem protection. He added that the discussions would help shape an integrated strategic approach that addresses Qatar's environmental and development needs.
Dr. Haidan said the event was part of a series of consultative meetings organized by the ministry under a participatory approach designed to broaden institutional involvement and clarify responsibilities, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of biodiversity in Qatar.
He also said the strategy update takes into account the need to align national priorities with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and comply with international environmental agreements, particularly the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Through these initiatives, the ministry aims to strengthen partnerships across sectors and draw on national and international expertise to develop a comprehensive strategy that promotes the sustainable use of resources and preserves Qatar's natural heritage for current and future generations. (QNA)
