Jerusalem Governorate: Nearly 28,000 Settlers Stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in Q3 2026
Occupied Jerusalem, October 01 (QNA) - The Jerusalem Governorate recorded the killing of six Palestinians, 27,830 settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, 139 demolition and land-leveling operations, 357 arrests, and 73 expulsion orders, most of them banning individuals from Al-Aqsa Mosque, during the third quarter of this year.
In a report issued on Thursday, the Governorate said the past three months witnessed an escalation in Israeli violations in Jerusalem and its surroundings, including assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque, arrest and expulsion campaigns; the demolition of homes and facilities, land leveling and property seizures, restrictions on the movement of Jerusalemites, targeting of Bedouin communities; and the continuation of settlement projects.
The report noted that the escalation was not limited to the growing number of settlers storming the mosque but also included an expansion of religious practices and rituals, including collective prayers, attended by ministers, Knesset members, rabbis, and leaders of “Temple” groups, under the protection of occupation police.
The Governorate also documented increased targeting of religious, educational, national, and international institutions and landmarks, as well as restrictions on freedom of worship and journalistic work and the targeting of institutions belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
It also documented 139 demolition and land-leveling operations during the third quarter, including 35 forced self-demolitions, in which Palestinians were compelled to demolish their own homes or structures, and 96 demolitions carried out directly by occupation machinery, in addition to eight land-leveling operations targeting Palestinian land, structures, and facilities.
