Bangui, January 06 (QNA) - The National Elections Authority of the Central African Republic announced Tuesday the victory of outgoing President Faustin‑Archange Touadera, securing a third presidential term after obtaining more than 76 percent of the votes in the elections held on Dec. 28, 2025.

Meanwhile, his main rivals rejected the results and filed appeals with the authoritative agencies.

According to provisional figures, his chief opponent, Anicet‑Georges Dologuele, came in second with roughly 15 percent of the vote, while Henri‑Marie Dondra ranked third with approximately 3 percent.

The elections also included the selection of members of legislative, municipal, and local councils, with a voter turnout of around 52 percent of registered voters.

Dologuele had prematurely declared himself the winner, citing serious irregularities that marred the electoral process, while Dondra called for the complete annulment of the poll.

In response, a spokesperson for Touadera dismissed the allegations as false, warning of potential unrest if such claims persisted, while the National Elections Authority confirmed that it would examine all appeals before announcing the final results in mid‑January.

Touadera's renewal of office, at the age of 68, follows a constitutional amendment approved in a 2023 referendum, which abolished presidential term limits, thereby allowing him to run for a third term.

This electoral process has stirred widespread controversy from the outset, amid calls by parts of the opposition to boycott the vote, while analysts note that the current elections reflect the continuation of relative stability in Bangui, despite ongoing security and political challenges. (QNA)
