Damascus, January 05 (QNA) - A Syrian delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani and the Head of the General Intelligence Directorate, Hussein Al Salama, is taking part in the current round of negotiations with Israel, brokered and coordinated by the United States.

The negotiations are primarily focused on re‑activating the Israel‑Syria Disengagement Agreement (1974) to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces to the pre‑December 8, 2024, lines of control, as part of an equal security deal that places Syrian sovereignty above all considerations and ensures that all forms of meddling in Syria’s internal affairs are prevented, a government source clarified to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The source added that the resumption of these negotiations underscores Syria’s unyielding commitment to regaining its non‑negotiable national rights.

Israeli forces continue their repeated violations in southern Syria, in breach of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, amid Syria’s calls on the international community to uphold its responsibility to deter these violations. (QNA)
