Al Kass International Cup: Barcelona Edge PSG in Final to Win Title
Doha, January 29 (QNA) - Barcelona won the 11th edition of the Al Kass International Cup football tournament after defeating Paris Saint-Germain 5-2 in the final match held at Mansour Muftah Stadium.
The Spanish team's goals were scored by Artem Rebak (two goals) in the 9th and 60th minutes, Ignasi Marti in the 41st minute, Hugo Langunas in the 52nd minute, and an own goal by Paris Saint-Germain's Mathieu Petit in the 77th minute. The French team's goals were scored by Moulaye Niakate in the 11th minute and Abdel Shahid Al Mazwari in the 38th minute.
Barcelona, who won the title for the first time in their history, joins the list of tournament winners, which includes Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid with three titles each, Aspire Academy (two titles), Fluminense of Brazil, and Rangers of Scotland with one title each.
Prior to the final, the Mohammed VI Academy secured third place after defeating Aspire Academy 5-4 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time in the third-place match.
The Moroccan team took the lead through Imran Dakich in the 41st minute, but Aspire equalized through Adham Adnan in the 82nd minute.
Barcelona captain Langunas won the Player of the Tournament award, while Iyad Hamza from the Mohammed VI Football Academy received the Best Goalkeeper award, and the Top Scorer award went to Riku Inada of Kashiwa Reysol of Japan with 6 goals. (QNA)
