Doha, January 24 (QNA) - CEO of Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) Faisal Rashid Al Sahouti affirmed that the State of Qatar’s hosting of the first edition of the Doha Legal Forum, scheduled to take place from Jan. 26 to 27, represents an important milestone in highlighting the legislative and regulatory development witnessed by the State. He noted that it reflects Qatar’s firm commitment to strengthening the rule of law and entrenching justice as a fundamental pillar of comprehensive development.

In an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Sahouti said that the Doha Legal Forum conveys a clear message that the State of Qatar was moving steadily forward in modernizing its legislative system to keep pace with international developments and to adopt best judicial practices and global standards, thereby ensuring swift justice and enhancing the attractiveness of the investment environment.

He pointed out that the Forum contributes to reinforcing Qatar’s position as a regional and international hub for justice and the rule of law by showcasing its advanced experience in institutional governance and the development of specialized courts, particularly the Investment and Trade Court and the Qatar International Court. It also highlights modern investment-related legislation and the legal guarantees and effective dispute resolution mechanisms it provides.

He said that the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, has played a pivotal role in organizing the Forum, drawing on their accumulated expertise in hosting regional and international legal events. He added that the Forum builds on the successes achieved by previous editions of the Qatar Law Forum.

Al Sahouti noted that the Forum’s program was carefully designed to spotlight modern national legislation and reflect the level of maturity reached by Qatar’s legal and judicial system, in terms of the modernity of its legislative framework, the consolidation of specialized courts, procedural efficiency, and the speed of dispute resolution.

He added that the Forum’s themes focus on contemporary legal issues directly linked to the digital economy and the investment environment, such as artificial intelligence, financial technology, bankruptcy regimes, and public-private partnership contracts, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

He said that the outcomes of the Forum were expected to support the business environment and attract investments, particularly foreign investment, by enhancing legal certainty and stability, and by providing a knowledge base and recommendations that can be utilized in the development of future policies and legislation.

He stressed that the broad participation of legal experts, judges, and decision-makers from around the world enriches legal dialogue and enables the exchange of experiences and best practices, strengthening the Forum’s standing as an influential international platform.

In concluding his interview with QNA, the CEO of the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre expressed his hope that the Doha Legal Forum would evolve into a permanent international platform for legal dialogue, to be held biennially. He highlighted that the Forum embodies Qatar’s vision, which regards law and justice as core pillars of development and economic stability, and reflects the country’s openness to exchanging expertise and reinforcing the rule of law.
