Rabat, January 13 (QNA) - The semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kick off with Egypt facing Senegal at the Stade Grand in Tangier, while hosts Morocco take on Nigeria at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Egypt aims to reach the final and claim their eighth AFCON title, with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah leading the charge after scoring four goals in the tournament. Senegal, appearing in their third semi-final in four editions, rely on Al Nassr forward Sadio Mane, who contributed a goal and three assists in the quarter-finals. Historically, Egypt and Senegal have met five times in AFCON, with two wins each and one draw.

Meanwhile, Morocco, chasing their first final since 2004, advanced with a 2-0 quarter-final win over Cameroon. Real Madrid striker Brahim Diaz has impressed by scoring in all five of Morocco's matches, leading the tournament's scoring chart. Nigeria, boasting the tournament's most prolific attack with 14 goals, seek to reach their ninth final, relying on Atalanta's Ademola Lookman and Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen. In AFCON history, Morocco and Nigeria have met five times, with Morocco winning three and Nigeria two.

The semi-finals set the stage for a high-stakes clash as Africa's top teams battle for a place in the 2025 final in Morocco. (QNA)
