Mogadishu, January 1 (QNA) - Somalia announced a series of political, legal, and diplomatic steps aimed at preserving its sovereignty and consolidating the principle of a unified state.

In a statement issued today, the Somali Presidency said that the responsible stance of regional and international states and organizations in support of Somalia's sovereignty and unity contributed to thwarting Israel's attempts to recognize the so-called "Somaliland" administration.

The statement explained that this responsible international position embodies the international community's commitment to the principles of international law and the UN Charter, particularly respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

Mogadishu stressed that any attempts to undermine Somalia's unity or deal with separatist entities outside the framework of the state constitute a clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability, affirming its categorical rejection of any such steps.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to work with its regional and international partners to enhance security and stability in the Horn of Africa, and to promote peaceful solutions that preserve Somalia's unity and meet the aspirations of its people for peace and development.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced the recognition of the so-called "Republic of Somaliland" as an independent and sovereign state, a move that was met with widespread Arab and Islamic condemnation. (QNA)
