Doha, September 24 (QNA) - The General Authority for the Cultural Village, Katara, inaugurated the exhibition "Reflections", showcasing 23 artworks, created by legendary Qatari visual artist Yasser Gaessa over the course of a year.

The artefacts revolve around the theme of reflection, as well as exploring its human, natural, and intellectual dimensions.

The showcase will remain open to the public until Oct. 5, 2025, offering an incredible opportunity to reflect on the relationship between humans and their surroundings, and to examine how personal emotions and life experiences manifest in nature, in turn reflecting upon the broader human experience.

The themes of the artworks range from natural reflections, such as those found in water, sky, and light, to human reflections that mirror inner states of contemplation, anxiety, and serenity, alongside pieces that explore the dialectic between the external world and the inner reservoir of human experience, rendered in a visual composition that strikes a delicate balance between reality and imagination.

To mark this occasion, Director General of the Cultural Village Foundation Katara, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, emphasized that Katara has always been committed to nurturing the fine art scene on both the domestic and Arab stages through hosting outstanding artistic experiences.

 This showcase represents an incredible addition to the artistic movement in Doha, offering the public a broader space for interaction, presenting new visual perspectives imbued with profound human and intellectual dimensions, he said.

He added that visual art, at its core, constitutes a universal language that transcends the boundaries of geography and language, broadening expansive horizons for dialogue and culturally forging people-to-people connections.

Dr Al Sulaiti emphasized that, through its cultural strategy, Katara aspires to serve as a premier hub for global artistic creativity by nurturing talent, supporting artists, and presenting their accomplishments to audiences at home and abroad.

For his part, Gaessa expressed his gratification for this debut showcase, emphasizing that the showcased artworks have been a years-long product of his experience in press graphic design and fine art, with these two arts imbuing his paintings with a special identity, in terms of techniques and visual structures.

Gaessa pointed out that the overarching concept of the exhibition is built on the notion of reflection, conceived as a mirror of the human relationship with the world around them, noting that in many instances, the individual becomes a reflection of their environment and the nuances of daily life they experience, while in other cases, the environment mirrors what is internally harbored in terms of emotions and experiences.

He emphasized that the value of these works lies in their ability to provoke questions within the audience.

The opening ceremony was attended by a variety of Their Excellences and members of the diplomatic corps to the State of Qatar, alongside a group of artists and those interested in fine art. (QNA)
