4.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes San Francisco, California
Washington, September 22 (QNA) - A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck San Francisco, California, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The tremor occurred approximately two kilometers southeast of Berkeley.
California regularly experiences earthquakes, and seismologists have warned of a high probability of a major quake causing widespread destruction in the state over the next 30 years.
In 1994, a 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit the state, killing at least 60 people and causing damages estimated at $10 billion. Similarly, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in San Francisco in 1989 resulted in 67 fatalities. (QNA)
