New York, September 21 (QNA) - HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's consistent participation in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings underscores Qatar's influential and evolving role on the global stage, said HE Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Public-Private Partnerships and Islamic Social Financing, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi.

In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), on the occasion of the 80th UN General Assembly, HE Dr. Al Muraikhi highlighted that His Highness has consistently used his addresses at the UNGA to deliver transparent and principled messages, marked by moral clarity.

He added that these speeches reflect Qatar's clear stance on key regional conflicts and global issues, offering thoughtful insight into the country's foreign policy priorities.

His Excellency noted that HH the Amir's addresses consistently emphasize respect for state sovereignty, the rejection of violence, the importance of dialogue, and the urgency of responding to humanitarian crises.

These positions, he added, have elevated Qatar's reputation as a responsible and credible actor in multilateral diplomacy.

Dr. Al Muraikhi also underscored that, under its wise leadership, Qatar regards the UNGA as a vital platform for meaningful engagement with the international community.

He noted that it serves as an opportunity for the country to present a balanced and forward-looking national vision on major political, humanitarian, and development challenges.

He further stated that Qatar has, over the years, moved beyond the role of a UN member state to become a proactive and strategic partner in shaping global initiatives.

This includes meaningful contributions to peace, mediation, and humanitarian support in critical regions such as Sudan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Gaza.

Regionally, Qatar's approach has centered on fostering stability through mediation, preventive diplomacy, and direct humanitarian assistance.

Dr. Al Muraikhi highlighted Qatar's strong partnerships with UN agencies, noting that its contributions—particularly in education, healthcare, women's empowerment, and refugee support—have cemented its position as a key global player in addressing humanitarian and development challenges.

Qatar's growing influence on the global stage is a direct result of a clear political vision rooted in respect for international law, promotion of dialogue, and a deep commitment to justice and fairness, he added.

In this context, Dr. Al Muraikhi described Qatar as a prime example of how a small state can wield considerable influence on the global stage.

He attributed this to what he termed "smart, multi-track diplomacy," which enables Qatar to engage effectively across political, humanitarian, and developmental fronts.

He praised Qatar's active and meaningful participation in UNGA activities—not limited to official attendance, but extending to the organization of high-level side events and the launch of pioneering initiatives in collaboration with UN agencies, civil society, and the private sector.

Qatar's approach, he noted, consistently focuses on global priorities such as education in emergencies, poverty reduction, refugee support, and the empowerment of women and youth.

This dynamic presence, he added, reflects a transition from participation to influence, enhancing Qatar's ability to form strategic alliances and deliver practical solutions to global challenges.

Dr. Al Muraikhi emphasized that Qatar has successfully merged humanitarian diplomacy with political mediation, becoming a leading example of balanced and effective international engagement.

He cited Qatar's generous and sustained contributions to UN programs in crisis-affected regions including Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and Afghanistan, as well as its innovative use of Islamic social financing tools to support vulnerable communities and promote sustainable development.

On the mediation front, he added, Qatar has played a key role in facilitating dialogue between conflicting parties, adopting a neutral, trust-based approach that has earned it credibility as a reliable mediator in complex peacebuilding processes.

He described Qatar's diplomatic efforts as a reflection of its broader vision for responsible and ethical international engagement—balancing principled commitments with strategic goals to advance global peace and security.

Dr. Al Muraikhi also highlighted the deep and ongoing cooperation between the UN and leading Qatari humanitarian and development institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Education Above All Foundation, and Qatar Foundation.

This collaboration spans areas such as food security, healthcare, women's empowerment, and education in crisis zones.

He particularly praised Qatar’s efforts to develop innovative financing mechanisms—like Islamic endowments—that are now being integrated into global humanitarian responses.

He affirmed that Qatar stands out as a strategic partner in advancing the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), not only through financial contributions, but through long-term vision, commitment, and effective implementation.

Looking ahead, Dr. Al Muraikhi revealed ongoing discussions with Qatari stakeholders to expand collaboration on key initiatives—most notably the Islamic Social Financing Initiative, aimed at combining charitable giving with sustainable financing to support human development.

A coordination meeting is planned to bring together official, charitable, and private-sector actors in Qatar to establish a comprehensive framework for the initiative, including legal, operational, and evaluation components.

He also pointed to the Humanitarian Leadership Initiative, currently in development with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

This program aims to cultivate a new generation of humanitarian leaders by embedding educational and awareness modules into Qatar’s academic system, with a focus on leadership skills, solidarity, and social responsibility.

Dr. Al Muraikhi commended these efforts as part of a broader strategy to integrate government, civil society, and educational institutions in building a robust humanitarian ecosystem—both within Qatar and internationally.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Al Muraikhi reflected on several key achievements during his tenure at the United Nations—many of which, he noted, were made possible through close collaboration with Qatar.

These accomplishments include the launch of education initiatives in conflict zones that have reached thousands of children, active support for mediation efforts in complex political crises, the use of technology to enhance humanitarian aid delivery, and the advancement of scalable models for Islamic social financing.

His Excellency emphasized that such accomplishments were only made possible through strong collaboration with international partners—chief among them the State of Qatar.

He highlighted Qatar's role as a key strategic ally in supporting UN objectives and as a vital contributor to advancing global humanitarian efforts.(QNA)
