Qatari Team Lose to US, Chinese Counterparts in FIBA 3x3 World Championship
Beijing, September 19 (QNA) - The Qatari team lost Friday to US and Chinese counterparts on the first day of the U-23 FIBA 3x3 World Championship, which is being held in Xiong'an, China, over three days with the participation of 20 teams.
The Qatari team, consisting of the quartet of Mohammed Bashir, Mahmoud Darwish, Mubarak Jama, and Mustafa Ndaw, lost to the United States 15-21 in the first round of Group D, after a strong match between the two teams.
The Qatari team also lost to China 18-21 in the second round of Group D.
The Qatari players displayed high levels of skill in the match against China, exchanging the lead with the Chinese team until the final seconds, which brought joy to the hosts and their fans.
The Qatari team will play their third and fourth matches in the group tomorrow, Saturday, against Latvia and Fiji, respectively, as they seek to achieve two consecutive victories and compete for a place in the quarter-finals.
The 20 participating teams in the tournament have been divided into four groups. Group A includes Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Croatia, and Iran. Group B includes France, New Zealand, the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Egypt. Group C includes Mongolia, Italy, Algeria, Argentina, and Venezuela. Group D includes Qatar, the United States, China, Latvia, and Fiji. (QNA)
