Damascus, September 16 (QNA) - The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday a roadmap to resolve the crisis in Suweida Governorate and stabilize southern Syria, based on the unity of Syrian territories and the principle that all Syrians are equal citizens in their country with equal rights and duties.

This came following a tripartite meeting held earlier Tuesday in Damascus between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi, along with US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the roadmap stipulates the commitment of the three countries to support efforts aimed at rebuilding Syria on foundations that preserve its security, stability, unity, and sovereignty, and that meet the aspirations of all Syrians and protect their rights.

The three countries also agreed to adopt a comprehensive, gradual approach to addressing the situation in Suweida Governorate, emphasizing that the governorate is an integral part of Syria and has no future outside it.

They also emphasized that bridging the trust gap between the Syrian government and the governorate requires a gradual, deliberate approach, beginning with measures to rebuild trust.

The three countries emphasized the need to cooperate to implement a set of urgent steps, within the framework of full respect for Syrian sovereignty.

At the forefront of these steps is the call by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria to conduct an investigation into the recent unfortunate events in Suweida Governorate, with the government committing to holding all perpetrators of violations accountable.

The Syrian government, with the support of Jordan and the US , must also ensure the continued delivery of sufficient quantities of humanitarian and medical aid to the governorate, in cooperation with relevant UN agencies and other countries, to ensure that support reaches those in need effectively.

Other necessary measures include deploying qualified and trained Ministry of Interior forces along the Suweida-Damascus road to ensure the safe movement of citizens and trade.

The government must withdraw all civilian fighters from the administrative borders of Suweida Governorate and take all necessary steps to enable residents of Suweida villages that witnessed fighting during the unfortunate events to safely return to their villages.

The three countries also emphasized that the Syrian government should lead efforts to establish a national narrative that celebrates unity, pluralism, equality among all Syrians, and the rule of law.

They also emphasized accelerating its efforts to contain and end hate speech, thus enhancing stability and national reconciliation.

Earlier Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Sheibani held a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Al Safadi, and US Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack.

This was a continuation of the discussions hosted by Amman to discuss consolidating the ceasefire in Suweida Governorate and resolving the crisis there.(QNA)
