QSL: Al Sadd Unveils Three New Signings to Fans, Media
Doha, August 09 (QNA) - Al Sadd Sports Club introduced three of its new professionals after their joining the ranks of the first football team, namely the Brazilian Roberto Firmino, the Spanish Pau Prim, and the Uruguayan Agustin Siri, as part of its preparations for the launch of the new season of the 2025–2026 Qatar Stars League (QSL).
During a press conference, General Manager of Al Sadd SC, Turki bin Nasser Al Ali, affirmed that the club always aims to compete for local and continental championships, and it will embark on its campaign to defend its title in the league (Doha Bank Stars League) on August 16 against Qatar SC at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Al Ali highlighted that the team would conclude its preparations for the season with a friendly match against the Moroccan Wydad Club on Sunday, at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, in the team's first appearance following the new signings.
For his part, Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino expressed his gratitude for joining Al Sadd, sharing his hope to have a successful experience with one of the clubs that has a robust and longstanding presence in Asia.
Firmino further added that joining the club was his own personal decision, since he did not seek advice from anyone, affirming that his primary goal is to help Al Sadd achieve more accomplishments and secure victories, rather than focusing on individual records.
In addition, Firmino emphasized that he strives to win the AFC Champions League for the third time in the club's history, and, of course, this requires the combined efforts of everyone within the team.
Regarding his desire to return to wearing the jersey of his national team, Brazil, he said that if the opportunity arises to rejoin the Brazilian national team, he would be incredibly happy and will exert his utmost effort to achieve that.
Finally, the Brazilian striker promised Al Sadd fans to deliver results that will please them in local and continental championships.
Meanwhile, Spanish midfielder Pau Prim expressed his happiness at joining Al Sadd in his first experience in the Middle East, emphasizing that he will work to give his best in the coming period.
The 19-year-old player added that since his arrival in Doha, he has felt a profound sense of welcome, and the atmosphere here is absolutely wonderful, underlining that before making any promises, he needs to adapt to the environment and will strive to win all possible titles with Al Sadd.
Uruguayan midfielder Agustin Siri said he is embarking on a new journey with Al Sadd, pointing out that his choice to play for the most decorated club in the Qatari league came because of the great reputation the club holds as one of the most prestigious in Asia.
Siri added that he would deliver on his utmost promise to help the team achieve victories and win titles. He strongly appreciated the magnitude of the responsibility, as his goal is to bring joy to the fans.
He confirmed that transferring to the Qatari league champions from Defensor Sporting in Uruguay is a significant step in his career, expressing his hope to win championships and showcase his abilities with the team both in local and Asian competitions. (QNA)
