Qatar Chess Association Wraps Up Summer Program
Doha, August 9 (QNA) - The Qatar Chess Association concluded its summer program today, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports at the Association's training center. The program involved 50 players, both male and female, aged 6 to 12.
In addition to chess training, the summer program, which began on July 6, featured numerous educational workshops on digital safety, recycling, and handicrafts, as well as a variety of fun activities and workshops for students. The program was held in cooperation with several government agencies, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Qatar Scientific Club, the Qatar Red Crescent, and the Friends of the Environment Center.
The final day saw the local championship, with the participation of 23 players. In the boys' championship, Abdulrahman Musleh won first place, followed by Issa Al Ziyara in second place, and Issa Al Buainain in third place.
In the girls' championship, Amna Al Buainain took first place, Noura Al Hanaitim came in second, and Al Dana Al Musaifari took third.
In this regard, President of the Qatar Chess Association, Mohammed Al Mudahka told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the summer program was held in partnership with numerous institutions in the country and resulted in the organization of numerous events throughout the program, in addition to holding the final tournament between male and female players.
Al Mudahka indicated that the Association aims, through these summer activities, to teach the basics of chess and develop the strategic thinking skills of participants. This is part of its efforts to expand the base of participation in the game, discover talent, attract more players to join the center, and develop plans to develop their capabilities and hone their skills.
In concluding his remarks, the President of the Qatar Chess Association emphasized the ongoing efforts to provide chess players and enthusiasts with a greater platform, while activating community partnerships through ongoing cooperation with various entities through tournaments of a professional organizational level and strong technical strength, which contribute to spreading the game and expanding the base of its practitioners in Qatari society.
