Jeddah, August 09 (QNA) - The Qatar national basketball team will play a decisive match tomorrow, Sunday, against Australia in the third round of Group A matches at the ongoing Asia Cup, held in Saudi Arabia until August 17.

Qatar enter the game after suffering two consecutive losses to Lebanon (80–84) and South Korea (83–97), making a win essential to keep hopes alive for advancing to the knockout stages.

On the other hand, Australia, defending continental champions, started their campaign with a dominant victory over South Korea (97–61) followed by a 93–80 win against Lebanon by 13 points.

Qatar currently hold 2 points, while Australia lead the group with 4 points, followed by Lebanon with 3 points, tied with South Korea in third place.

Qatar's head coach Hakan Demir and his technical staff are working on fixing defensive mistakes, reducing turnovers, and boosting offensive efficiency, relying on the outstanding performances of Brandon Goodwin, Abdulrahman Saad, Zinedine Bedr, and the inside strength of Alen Hadzibegovic.

The match against Australia presents a major challenge for Qatar to conclude the group stage, especially given the physical strength and fast offensive transitions of the Australian players. (QNA)
