Gaza, August 23 (QNA) - Palestinian journalist Khaled Al Madhoun, a cameraman for Palestine TV, was killed Saturday by direct Israeli fire while covering events in the northern Gaza area of Zakim, according to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate.

The syndicate said Al Madhoun was killed while performing his professional duties, condemning the targeting of journalists as a persistent crime aimed at silencing Palestinian voices and obscuring the truth. It emphasized that such attacks would not break the resolve of Palestinian media workers who continue their mission despite grave risks.

According to figures from Gaza's Government Media Office, the number of Palestinian journalists killed by Israeli forces has risen to 240. Among the most recent victims were Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa, along with four of their colleagues, prior to Al Madhoun's death.

The syndicate called on the international community to condemn these killings, pursue legal action against Israeli officials, and exert pressure to halt what it described as ongoing acts of extermination and to ensure the protection of Palestinian journalists. (QNA)
