Zurich, August 11 (QNA) - FIFA today launched the application process for the FIFA World Cup 26 volunteer program, scheduled to be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

In a statement on Monday, FIFA said that volunteers will play vital roles in 23 sites, including stadiums, training facilities, airports, hotels, and official and unofficial event sites, with the aim of ensuring the optimal organization of the tournament, which is scheduled to be held in 16 cities over six weeks, with the participation of 48 teams instead of 32, increasing the number of matches to 104 throughout the tournament.

The statement added that FIFA is looking for passionate and enthusiastic volunteers to help make this FIFA World Cup an unforgettable experience for all.

Volunteers whose applications are successful will be invited to attend the Volunteer Team Tryouts, which are expected to begin in October 2025, with training to follow in March 2026. The FIFA World Cup 26 will kick off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application and eligible to volunteer in the host country, and should have a good command of English. In Mexico, English and Spanish are desirable; in Canada, French is considered an asset. Proficiency in any additional languages is a plus.

The FIFA Volunteer Program is known as a unique opportunity for football fans from all over the world to participate in making the event happen.

"Volunteers are the heart, soul, and smile of FIFA tournaments," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. "They get to show off their local pride, gain a behind-the-scenes view of the tournament and make memories and friendships that can last a lifetime, while supporting a historic event." (QNA)
